HERS stands for Home Energy Rating System. Also called the E-Scale, this index is used to show the relative energy use of a home allowing homebuyers to understand, at a glance, how the energy performance of a
particular home compares with others. This rating system takes into account energy used for heating, cooling, appliances, lighting, hot water heating, and ventilation.

THE LOWER THE NUMBER THE LESS ENERGY THE HOME USES!
Some builders say, or believe, that if they use ENERGY STAR windows, HVAC units, hot water heaters, or even appliances, that the home they build is an ENERGY STAR home. This is not necessarily true. Some in our industry believe that by including these features, this will equate their homes to the levels of an Insight Home. It does not.

How do we verify that an Insight Home is superior to other homes? By sharing with you the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agencys approved method of energy rating, thats how. This is the best tool to explain, at a glance, why an Insight Home is a superior value, and why home buyers should consider purchasing one of our homes, prior to signing a contract with another builder.

We strongly believe that in order to acquire a true and non-biased rating, third party verification is a must. That is why every Insight Home is tested and verified by an outside company. Energy Services Group is our chosen third party, and they are not affiliated with our insulation contractor, our heating and air contractor, or any other Insight Homes contractor, eliminating any conflict of interest. During construction, Energy Services inspects, and at the end of construction they verify and test every Insight Home for the following; insulation quality, air seal of the house, and how well the HVAC ducts are sealed. They also confirm all of our windows and HVAC equipment ratings.
